Based in the heart of Charlotte, North Carolina, the Bechtler houses a once privately held collection of works by some of the most important and influential artists of the mid-20th century. As most cultural institutions, the museum relies heavily on membership and donations for funding.
Membership means more
This client requested a fresh take on the museum’s membership mailer, underlining the importance of this mailer in garnering the financial support necessary to preserve the museum’s art collection and fund its educational programs. The mailer needed to reflect the museum’s modern branding while presenting detailed tiers of membership in a digestible format.
We settled on a vertical tri-fold brochure, complete with exhibition inserts and a member application card. I focused on imagery of the stunning building, designed by the Swiss architect Mario Botta, and a repeated text treatment tying all the mailer elements together. I re-worked the membership chart into a more intuitive format.
For a subsequent mailing, I developed another text treatment playing off of the museum logo. This treatment was applied to a tote bag and distributed to members.
